Heller was born and raised in the Woodhawk Valley of the Missouri River Breaks, 26 miles northeast of Winifred, Montana. "I think the remoteness of the area and the fact that only my family and three others lived in the valley, led to my keen awareness of the beauty of the land and the anumals," she said. Heller teaches art and feels that, "When the Lord gives you talents, you need to show and share." While her oils offer rich land scapes, her colored pencil paintings present a work so detailed, it comes to life. She creates meticulous colored pencils birds and animals. Her oils depict the rugged beauty of the Missouri River badlands and often times include the animals that live there.
